Naptastrophe

19 Feb

Max has decided he hates naps and would prefer not to participate in them anymore.  Instead, his tired self stands in his crib and SCREAMS hysterically, even when he is very tired.  This morning he fell asleep on me nursing but the second I put him down in his crib he jumped up and proceeded to scream for 30 minutes.  Very exhausting.  On the plus side, he has been sleeping around 11 hours a night, and pretty much straight through.  On the other hand, he wakes up for the day some time between 4:30 and 5:30.  Sometimes he will go back to sleep in bed with me and sometimes not.  One of his favorite words now is “go” and yesterday at 4:30am he pointed at the stairs and told me he wanted to “go.”  Great.

The will he or won’t he nap situation has left me feeling completely trapped in the house.  It is so hard to make plans because I don’t know when or if Max will nap.  If he takes one in the morning it might only be 40 minutes and that might be the only one he takes all day, so I have to frantically prioritize the things I must get done while he is asleep and it leaves me feeling frazzled.  I really would like to get into some kind of regular exercise routine but he makes that very difficult.  How do people function with more than one child? how?!
